At August Apiary, we believe that protecting our local pollinators should be something that everyone can participate in, even if you don’t have the specialized tools or the time to be a full-time beekeeper. Our Adopt-a-Hive program was created to bridge that gap, allowing you to host a thriving colony right on your property while I handle all the heavy lifting. It is the perfect way to support the environment and "save the bees" in a way that is simple, meaningful, and deeply rewarding for your home and garden.
Come Spring I will establish a brand-new colony and set up a hive at your residence. From that point on, I manage the hive’s health and maintenance indefinitely, or until you decide you’d like the colony moved. You get to enjoy the incredible benefits of pollination and the peaceful experience of having bees on your land, while I take care of the technical work and the day-to-day needs of the hive.
In exchange for providing a sanctuary for the bees, I will provide your household with up to ten pounds of honey every year. There is nothing quite like the experience of trying honey made directly from your own flowers, and you will also get to enjoy our other specialty honeys like Wildflower, Goldenrod, Linden Blossom, and Sweet Clover. It is a wonderful way to see the direct impact of your commitment to sustainability.
